Re: PHY 3171 - Clinical and Experimental Cardiovascular Physiology - Leader: Dr Kate Denton
Dear Professor Larkins,
I have viewed the undercover footage obtained by the Monash Kills campaign, of classroom experiments on live, anesthetized rabbits as part of Monash Physiology class 3171.
I am appalled and distressed that sentient animals will continue to be used in this way, especially considering that students have the option of watching a video of the procedure instead. The Chair of the Monash University Animal Welfare Committee has stated that there are humane, non-animal alternatives available to students which do not disadvantage them in any way.
This terrible waste of life must stop, and I ask that you remove these procedures from your syllabus immediately.
I would appreciate a reply about this issue as I am eager to know the outcome, thank you.
